MEDIUM: Oil paintings
I grew up in a small town in Indiana and have spent most of my adult life in or around Indianapolis. The idea of art has always interested me and as a young person I toyed with the idea of studying art. However, practical matters prevailed and all those initial urges took a back seat to getting a job, getting married, helping my husband through school, and becoming a mother.
I loved almost every minute of it and along the way I found time to dabble in crafts and semi-artistic endeavors like basket weaving, tole painting, water colors and miniature oils. But I had never really tried anything serious in the fine arts department until about 8 years ago when my Husband gifted me with my first lessons with a Master Painter and I fell in love with painting oils on canvas. In the past few years I have taken more workshops with professionals and have learned that everyone has their own approach, but the principles are the same for everyone. Although I am still working on my own style, I seem to be more comfortable with impressionism- hoping to leave room for the viewer to imagine as much or more than he is actually seeing. Most of my paintings are still life. Because I have a growing desire to paint the things and people I love, I continue to learn and practice in other areas such as plein aire and portrait.
