About Art On Main Gallery & Gifts
Located in the Carmel Arts & Design District, Art On Main Gallery & Gifts offers visitors a blend of traditional, contemporary, and abstract artwork and gifts in both two and three dimensional media as well as digital photography. We maintain a broad range of pricing on original works, prints, and gifts.
A review of the gallery artists' individual artists' pages will reveal a rich and varied background of local experience and international training.
Besides presenting a pleasant gallery environment where you can visit and enjoy the exhibited work with the guidance of the artist, several Art On Main artists also take commission work to meet custom taste and design needs for both home and business.
When Bob Shade, former owner of ArtSplash Gallery, decided to retire and move to Florida, several artists from the Gallery wanted to continue with an art presence in the Carmel Arts & Design District.
When looking for an additional signee for the lease to our space, Kim Greene walked into the Gallery. Kim, an emerging artist in oil painting, was very interested in helping us continue as a gallery. Kim and her husband, Larry Greene of Case Design and Remodeling, both agreed to sign the lease. They also agreed to open-up a wall in the gallery, a plan that had been in the works for several years, at no cost to the gallery. In addition, they agreed to install additional gallery lighting for us at cost. It was like a dream come true for the gallery. Through their generosity, Carmel Art on Main, Gallery & Gifts came to fruition.
But there was much work to do to get the Gallery open. Artist Board members Kim Greene, Marie Reamer, Nancy Keating, Deb Slack and Anna Afshar worked tirelessly to re-paint and rearrange the gallery to introduce more artists, and, in particular, 3-D artists to the Arts & Design District. With many new artists and some artists remaining from ArtSplash Gallery, Art on Main Gallery & Gifts is opening with a wider range of smaller and more affordable artwork, more “giftable” items, as well as small to large 2-D works in several media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media and mosaic glass. Three-D works will include small wood artwork, as well as furniture, glass mosaic art, and fused glass pieces. We will also be adding functional and artistic pottery and art glass. Stay tuned to an evolving gallery with much to offer all our residents of and visitors to our wonderful city of Carmel.
